Knights of Columbus – The Ides of March: March 15, 2009

March 27, 2009

The Ides of March. How are you doing on your Lenten journey?  Did you give up chocolate, chips or booze? Did youlent give up hatred, anger or gossiping? As Fr. Tom wrote back on February 22, “Fasting is good for us to do. We sacrifice from our pleasures to show God our love. We fast from our faults in order to improve our lives.” Lent is such a cool time of year; an opportunity to renew our faith. To remember God “gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Continue the good work you are doing. And if you are stalling, it is not too late to fast from something. Our God is awesome; unconditional love.  How are you doing on your Lenten journey?

March 27, 2009

Job Transition Services Lots of folks are out of work for various reasons. If you are ‘between assignments,’ the first thing we urge you to do is file for unemployment benefits. Even if you received a severance, file on line today; it’s easy. Job transition services are numerous. Lisle has a job club in their library the first Friday of every month (this Friday 3/6) at 10AM. The Community Career Center at 1971 Gowdy Rd (Rt 59 across from American Sale) has a meeting every Wednesday at 10AM. They also have ample resources for job seekers. The SES ETS (Employment Transitusflag1ion Support) has support and job leads posted on the SES website. You are not alone. For more info contact your Knights at the address below or Deacon Andy Cirmo. As Fr. Tom mentioned in his letter last week, “Lent gives us the opportunity to look deep into ourselves and to recognize what we need to change. May these forty days be a season of new life for all of us.” Stay Strong.
