The Year of the Volunteer – January 25, 2009

Many organizations stand ready and willing to help you help your neighbor. The K of C is one such organization. Last year, our members provided more than 68 million hours of volunteer service. This year, faced with an even greater need, we plan to do even more. Join us, and the many organizations in the SES community, that are working to make life better for our neighbors. Your country needs you, your community needs you, your neighbors need you. Together, let us make 2009 the year of the volunteer.

Happy New Year! (Part three) January 18, 2009

How are you doing on those resolutions? You have resolved to join the Knights on February 8. You have signed up for the Vocation Cross. You are going ‘green’ and have bought a new recycle bin. You are focusing on health and started working out (again) trying to lose those pounds from all the holiday fruit cake. And of course your teaming with enthusiasm, organized, landed that dream job, finances are in order, you’ve cut back on vices, got a new hobby and have scheduled a night to just hang with the family and relax. If you haven’t quite accomplished all that, you are not alone. And, it is not too late to start one or several of those resolutions. Schedule something you really want to do into your calendar, and make everyday a great day.

How are you going to answer the Lord’s call? The SES community has plenty of opportunity for involvement. Check out the Parish Directory section towards the back of this bulletin; lower left corner lists e-mail addresses of our Council, Commissions and Core Team members. Tap them an e-mail and tell them you are ready. Resolve to answer the Lord’s call in 2009.

Sign up for the Vocation Cross Program Pray for Vocations. This June, three men will be ordained priests, including our own Dindo. However, about 13 priests are retiring. You do the math. Pray for Vocations and sign up for the Vocation Cross Program.

Join Us February 8: Membership Meeting at St Raphael’s. Begin your journey into Knighthood at this ceremony. Resolve to join the Knights of Columbus! You will not be disappointed. This truly is an Experience of a Lifetime.

Christ Renews His Parish (CHRP) this is an occasion for individual spiritual growth achieved through prayer and personal reflection. This weekend can be a spiritual experience that will make a lasting difference in your life. Contact Deacon Andy for info.
