K of C = Knights of Charity!  This year’s fundraising efforts for the MR/LD Tootsie Roll drive resulted in $5,090.08 distributed to five local charities. Grand Knight Vince Nirtaut and Fundraising Director Jeff Sweeney had the privilege of presenting charitable donations on June 16.

* Catherine Bus and Colleen Ryan accept a check for All Saints Catholic Academy Special Education.

* Bill McDonald accepts a check for Misericordia Home, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

* Other charities receiving donations from our 2007 MR/LD Tootsie Roll drive are Western DuPage Special Recreation, Special Camps for special citizens and Little Friends.  Special thanks to the SES community for your generous out-pouring of support to help the Knights make these donations possible.

Knight’s Korner – June 14-15, 2008

Johng and DonPrinciples of the Order:  The four principles of the Order are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. As Knights we are committed to charity, easing the plight of those less fortunate. In unity, there is strength. Through the Knights of Columbus, men are able to band together as brothers to help each other in times of distress, sickness and death. One of the reasons the Order was founded was to emphasize that Catholics are proud citizens of their countries. Today, Fourth Degree Knights in full regalia serve to witness to the values of devotion to God and country, the bedrock of patriotism. Pictured here, Brother Knights John Davis and Don Lesher congratulate each other on achieving 3rd Degree Knighthood on June 1st. (For more info, read “These Men They Call Knights.”)
